Contributing Validators

Here we create a Bean Validator and make it available to the whole application as an annotation. The validator is called Letters and it ensures a String field contains letters only.

    <p>We made it available to the whole application by:</p>
    <ul>
        <li>Creating <em>Letters</em> and <em>LettersValidator</em> on the classpath, as required by JSR 303.</li>
        <li>Putting the error message in <em>ValidationMessages.properties</em> and <em>ValidationMessages_fr.properties</em> 
            in the root of the classpath (eg. in <em>WEB-INF/classes</em>), as required by JSR 303.</li>
        <li>Creating a client-side validator, <em>letters.js</em>. This is desirable but not essential.</li>
        <li>Telling Tapestry about the client-side validator by contributing it to ClientConstraintDescriptorSource in <em>AppModule</em>.</li>
